DOGGIE PADDLE: THE CANINE SWIMMING & AGILITY CLUB
The husband-and-wife team of Christine and Barrie have been involved in canine, equine, and small livestock for more than 35 years.
They are joined by their daughter, Kristy, who is qualified in human, equine, and canine massage, microchipping, animal Reiki, Level 3 dog breeding, dog grooming, whelping, and association. We are further supported by adult granddaughters: Chloe, who is studying to become a veterinary nurse, and Ellesse, who is a consummate lover of all animals and breeds invertebrates. Ellesse is experienced in AI and canine care, having worked in local kennels for 12 years. We are a family of animal lovers, owning eight Golden Retrievers between us!
Our venue features a 32ft x 16ft pool equipped with the obligatory buckets of toys, a warm water hose-down area to rinse your dog, and a drying shed for towelling off. We run assisted swims, but you are also welcome to join us in the water!
While chlorine is widely used, many consumers are concerned about its toxic nature and lingering side effects. Our pool is treated with an integrated salt sterilizing pump (please refer to our page explaining salts used). This is far kinder to your dog’s skin and especially beneficial to dogs with sensitivities. We do not introduce any chlorine to our pool, which has been known to affect skin and bleach dog hair.
Inclusive to your booking and completely free is the use of our 1-acre agility field. It includes agility equipment for a run before or after your dog’s swim. Use of the field is limited to 15 minutes so as not to overtax your dog. You may find you are sharing this facility, so please be courteous to other patrons.
PLEASE NOTE: The agility field is available for sole hire, but it is booked out for private use from time to time. It is only available if you pre-book at the time of booking your swim. Please be patient.
We provide a changing room for those "pawrents" who wish to join their dogs in the pool, adjacent to a gated pen where your dog can wait safely while you change. We even offer a complimentary self-serve cup of tea or coffee to warm you up after your dip. We have tried to cater for your personal comforts and provide a covered viewing area with benches outside.
We are a swimming club with FREE membership. Numbered membership cards will be issued during your first swim session showing basic details of you and your dog so we can record attendance for loyalty rewards. You will be asked to complete a further form detailing your dog's name, age, breed, vet, and personality/sensitivities.
If you think we should be advised of any needs that you, the client, may have and wish to impart, please do so. Any information you share will be treated with complete discretion. We offer a client BE AWARE scheme.
