The Canine Swimming & Agility Club
The husband and wife team of Christine and Barrie have been involved in canine, equine and small livestock for more than 35 years along with daughter Kristy who is qualified in human, equine and canine massage, microchipping, animal Reiki, level 3 dog breeding, dog grooming, whelping and association, we are further supported by adult granddaughters Chloe who is studying to become a veterinary nurse and Ellesse who is a consummate lover of all animals and breeds invertebrates. Ellesse is experienced in AI and canine care having worked in kennels locally for 12 years.
We are a family of animal lovers having 8 Golden Retrievers between us.
All staff are qualified in canine resuscitation and first aid with Christine being qualified in human first aid and resuscitation.
The venue has a 32ft x 16ft pool with the obligatory buckets of toys, a warm water hose down area to rinse your dog off and a drying shed for towelling off. We will be running assisted swims but you are welcome to join us in the water.
Chlorine has long be used as a popular chemical to maintain the health of swimming pools HOWEVER although the chemical to chlorinate is widely used by a growing number, consumers are concerned of its toxic nature and lingering side effects which is why our pool is treated with an integrated salt sterilising pump ( Please Refer to our page explaining salts used) this is far kinder to your dogs’ skin and especially beneficial to dogs with sensitivity issues. There will be no Chlorine introduced to our pool which has been known to affect skin and bleach dog hair.
Inclusive to your booking and completely free is the use of a 1 acre agility field for a run before or after your dogs’ swim should they still have the energy, the field will include agility equipment should you wish to use them and assuming your dog still has some energy left. The time in the play area is limited to 15 minutes so as not to overtax your dog. You may find that you will be sharing his FREE facility so please be courteous to other patrons, however the agility field is available for sole hire (PLEASE NOTE THIS FACILITY IS BOOKED OUT FOR PRIVATE USE FROM TIME TO TIME AND IS ONLY AVAILABE IF YOU PRE BOOK AT THE TIME OF BOOKING YOUR SWIM. PLEASE BE PATIENT)
We provide a changing room for those pawrents who wish to join their dogs in the pool adjacent to a gated pen for you to put your dog while you change. We will even offer you a cup of tea or coffee to warm you up after your dip on a self-serve basis. At Doggie paddle we have tried to cater for your personal comforts and provide a covered viewing area with benches outside.
We are a swimming club with FREE membership. Membership cards with person specific numbering will be issued during your first swim session showing basic details of you and your dog so that we can record your attendance for which you will be periodically receive loyalty rewards. You will be asked to complete a further form during or after your first session so that we have all relevant details to look after both you and your dog during your time with us showing your dogs name/age/breed /Vet and anything we should know about him/her regarding personality and sensitivities. If you think we should be advised of any needs that you the client may have and that you wish to impart then please do so, any requests or information you share will be treated with complete discretion We offer a client BE AWARE scheme
